WebSep 26, 2024 · +1, imageio.imwrite for .pngs is very slow. I also noticed what seemed to be a slowdown over time with repeated calls to imageio.imwrite() for pngs. That makes no sense, because it should be stateless. Nevertheless, detailed profiling revealed that it indeed was getting slower with each call. Switching to cv2.imwrite() solved all my problems :)
